Innovation Lab

A new approach to learning

STEM is an approach that integrates learning from science, technology, engineering and mathematics. However, rather than being about the development of skills in these areas specifically, a STEM approach aims to develop key skills including:

• problem solving;

• creativity;

• critical analysis;

• teamwork;

• independent thinking;

• initiative;

• communication; and

• digital literacy

To help students develop these skills and provide them with a safe, well-equipped area to do so, Atwell Primary School has created an Innovation Lab.

The Innovation lab features 3D printers, modelling materials, science materials, programmable circuits, hand tools and recyclables to allow students to plan, design, test and create solutions to problems. It operates as part of our project-based learning approach.
