Visual Arts
The Visual Arts program at Atwell Primary School is renowned for the stunning art work created by students. Our art teacher, Mrs Amy May, encourages students to explore the work of numerous artists, using this as an inspiration in the growth of their own artistic abilities.
Our Visual Art program is important in helping students to:
Engage in artworks that communicate ideas, inspire imagination and encourage creative potential.
Work collaboratively and independently with an emphasis on how and where to present their work to an audience.
Learn about local and famous artists from history, including understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal art techniques.
Understand the importance of sustainability and the environment with emphasis on reducing wastefulness and recycling art materials.
Participate in school events through whole school collaborative art projects.
Art is a powerful tool for celebrating creativity allowing students to learn about and appreciate diverse artistic styles, techniques and materials. It encourages students to see the value in differences, fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity. It supports students to express personal experiences and perspectives.
